WW2 GERMAN CRAMPONS OF INVENTOR ECKELSTEIN K2 GEBIRGSJAGER MOUNTAINEERS UNIFORMORIGINAL CRAMPONS OF INVENTOR ECKENSTEIN (Museum pieces)An original pair of 10 point Eckenstein wrought iron crampons from inventor Oscar Eckenstein (1859 -1921).Oscar Eckenstein was a famous climber and railway engineer and the founder of the model of crampons that are still used today. The “fun” part of the history is that those were used by the German mountaineers troops during World War II while Eckenstein was a Jew.Eckenstein's father was a Jewish socialist from Bonn who had fled Germany following the failed revolution of 1848.The crampons are marked with Eckenstein’s name and FULPMES (the name of the Austrian smith manufacturer G. OSSENSCHAFT FULPMES)Also other manufacturers existed. The well educated inventor was insufferably arrogant and a long feud with the famous Alpine Club caused many of its members to denigrate him.A REAL MUSEUM PIECE!
